Besa McDonald is a psychotherapist who specializes in working with children, parents, and young adults. She obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in psychology from Wayne State University. In the sacred space of therapy, she believes in the goodness of each and every individual who comes to her for support, and strives to make her clients feel seen, heard, and accepted for exactly who they are. She listens empathetically and seeks to understand what her client’s unique strengths and needs are in order to develop meaningful and reachable goals. As a therapist, her top priority is to help her clients experience a greater sense of safety, connection, and joy so that they can reach self-actualization; or in other words, their best self.

For this reason, she emphasizes an integrative and individualized approach in helping her clients overcome challenges with anxiety, depression, anger, relationship challenges, grief, ADHD, trauma, and difficult life transitions. Some of her most commonly used treatment modalities include client-centered therapy, child centered play therapy, mindfulness training, somatic therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Besa believes that the client-therapist match is essential for progress to take place. For this reason, she always encourages questions to help you make more informed decisions around therapy. She looks forward to hearing from you!
