Tonya Gore Student Intern
Orchard Lake office in Farmington Hills
Tonya Gore is a counselor-in-training and current graduate student in the counseling program at Central Michigan University with a concentration in community mental health. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Wayne State University. Tonya is dedicated to providing the best quality care for her clients. In addition to her educational program, she has taken part in many additional trainings covering a wide variety of topics including couples counseling, disordered eating, and trauma.
Tonya brings a strong foundation of behavioral and developmental support. Her educational foundation is strengthened by her personal experiences. She believes strongly in a person’s ability to grow, change, and overcome adversity. She knows that living with mental health concerns can feel isolating and sometimes unending. Her desire is to walk along side you as you travel your path. Tonya believes that everyone has the right to feel safe, supported, and seen as they navigate life’s challenges. She loves working with all people, but is especially passionate about working with adolescents, and individuals who have experienced developmental trauma, chronic discrimination, and any other issue that results in feeling invisible.
Tonya takes a wholistic view of her clients. Her approach is trauma-informed, which means that she considers how our brains work, how we relate to others, and how we see ourselves. She believes that we all have the potential for greatness and with encouragement, support, and the desire to improve; we can overcome our obstacles and become the best version of ourselves.
