Ashley Banach, MS, DTLLP

Ashley S. Banach, MS, DTLLP holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy. Her clinical experience has focused primarily on working with children, adolescents, young adults and their families. She uses person-centered therapy to help patients work through complex emotions, life transitions, and challenges in school. She specializes in working with patients navigating a wide array of problems, including managing big feelings (anxiety, depression, anger, and general emotion regulation), building self-esteem, improving parent-child relationship difficulties, and supporting children who have ADHD, ASD, and PTSD. Ashley provides person-centered therapy, parental guidance, and therapeutic, psychological assessment services to children, adolescents and adults at Hutchison & Associates. Ashley enjoys the opportunity to help patients make sense of their story and how it has impacted who they are today. This work facilitates understanding of current struggles, fosters insight into one's strengths and difficulties, and helps identify pathways for personal growth.

Ashley recognizes that every patient’s journey is unique, and she tailors her treatment plans accordingly to each client’s individual experience. Her approach is deeply respectful of diverse experiences, acknowledging the impact of trauma, embracing neurodiversity, and honoring cultural backgrounds. Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, grounded in attachment theory, and integrates psychoanalytic and person-centered perspectives, allowing for more flexibility to meet patients’ unique needs. She has extensive knowledge of childhood development and psychopathology as well as factors influencing emotional regulation and maturation, self-esteem, and family dynamics. Ashley is comfortable working with families of all types but is particularly interested in supporting non-traditional, blended families, adoptive parents, and LGBTQ+ parents/families. She is well equipped to work with families of diverse racial and religious backgrounds in collaboration to promote parent-child mutual understanding, parental attunement, communication skills, and collaborative problem-solving strategies. Ashley views the connection between the therapist and client as the primary catalyst for patient progress and strives to build a safe, trustworthy, therapeutic relationship, fostering curiosity and self-acceptance. Patients often experience her as warm, respectful, genuinely curious, and eager to promote self-exploration and acceptance.

Ashley works at the Plymouth, South Lyon, & Ann Arbor locations.
